So, that will be it from this game! India march on to the semifinal of the ICC U-19 World Cup. On 29th January, 2020, the 2nd Quarter-Final will take place between the West Indies U19s and New Zealand U19s. Do join us for that game at 1000 Local (0800 GMT). Till then, cheers and take care!
Indian skipper, Priyam Garg, admits they wanted to field first as well. Tells their openers started off well but they lost their way in the middle and lost wickets hence they failed to get to 260. Tells they knew they had a very good score as they felt they had the bowling attack to defend 180-190 but was happy that the lower middle order could take him to 230. Tells that team spirit and team combination does not come in a month or two. Tells they have been playing and preparing for the past 18 months. On how pleased he is to be in the semi final, Garg says that all the games for them are the same as they play with the same intensity as every team that comes wants to win the cup.
Australian skipper, Mackenzie Harvey, says that it is not an easy loss to take. Adds they gave it their all and credits India for the game they had. Tells they hardly did anything wrong with the ball. Says he does not regret bowling first. Adds the Indian tailenders scoring 80 runs off the last 10 overs hurt them. Tells the wicket was not easy to bat on but was good enough to chase 230. Credits Fanning for keeping them in the chase. Admits that the changing room atmosphere was not great at 17/4. Knew they had batters to come who could have changed things. Admits that things could have been different had they got a good start.
For his superb exhibition of fast bowling and demolishing figures of 8-0-24-4, Kartik Tyagi has been named the Man of the Match. Tyagi says that the ball was swinging well and he is happy to perform well for the team especially after not being at his best in the last two games. Tells he bowled too many wides in the previous games, so here he was just trying to maintain his lines and lengths. On the semi finals, Kartik says no one knows what will happen in the future so he is just hoping to perform well in the coming games.
Earlier in the day, the Australians bowled really well to restrict India to a score of 233. Australia did well to take 3 wickets soon in the innings. Yashasvi Jaiswal played a very good innings at the top scoring 62 runs but he did not get any support until the pair of Bishnoi and Atharva Ankolekar did really well to add valuable runs down the order. The wickets were spread across the Australian bowling attack but the pick of them was Matthew Willans who used the pitch very well and suffocated the Indian batters at the start bowling consistently at the start. Stay tuned for the presentation which is coming right up!
Coming to the bowling of the Indians, Kartik Tyagi was the superstar as he dismantled the Aussie top order with his 4-fer. The other bowlers also kept things tight. Akash Singh took the all-important wicket of Sam Fanning and wrapped up the tail as well while Ravi Bishnoi dismissed concussion substitute Liam Scott. All in all, it was a very professional and thorough bowling performance from the Indians.
It was a dream start for the Indians as Australia shot on their own foot. On the first ball, Jake Fraser-McGurk departed for a diamond duck as he was run out. Two more wickets fell in the same over as Harvey and Hearne both departed off Tyagi's bowling. Tyagi also sent Oliver Davies packing and Australia found themselves at 17/4. After that came the resistance, as opener Sam Fanning and Patrick Rowe combined to form a 51-run stand. Just when it looked the Aussies would get a move on, Tyagi struck again to send Patrick Rowe back. He was a thorn for the Australians and ripped through their batting line-up. Liam Scott then combined with Fanning for a 81-run stand. It looked like this would be a match-winning stand for the Aussies but Ravi Bishnoi dismissed Scott and that broke the Australian resistance as they folded from 149/5 to 159 all out. The Australians were feeling pretty hard done by from some of the decisions made by the umpires but they could not do anything about it.
What a performance from India! Usually it is with the bat but this time, the defending champions have completely dominated with the ball and convincingly defeated Australia to progress to the semifinals of the ICC U-19 World Cup!!!

OUT! TIMBER! India have got three wickets in three balls and are now just one wicket away from victory. Good length ball just around off, it angles into Murphy who looks to guide it down to third man. Australia's promising run chase after a torrid start has been slammed down the ground in this over by Akash Singh.
Todd Murphy is the new man in.

OUT! Run Out! Excellent work from Dhruv Jurel. Good length delivery on middle, Sangha looks to defend but does so off the inner half of his bat. The ball goes behind and Sully calls for a quick run. Dhruv Jurel charges to the ball and removes his glove on his way. He scores a direct hit with an underarm throw. The umpire goes upstairs and replay finds Sully short of his crease. The end looks near for Australia.
Direct hit and Sully looks to be in trouble. The umpire has gone upstairs but by the looks of it, Conor Sully looks to be short of his crease.

OUT! Caught! Is this the end of the Australian fight? Their warrior and fighter of this innings, Sam Fanning is out of here. The short ball does the trick for Akash Singh. Not the best of balls but he is not complaining. It is a short ball down the leg side. Fanning looks to pull but ends up gloving it behind to Dhruv Jurel who takes a simple catch. A very good innings of 75 from Fanning comes to an end. He is disappointed as he knows the responsibility of taking his side home was on his shoulder.

OUT! Caught! Big wicket for India as Liam Scott, who had just started to get his groove departs. Quicker one from Bishnoi. It is short and just outside off. Liam looks to play the cut but the ball is too close to do that. He still does and misses. There is a sound as the ball goes past the bat. Jurel takes a sharp catch and puts in an appeal. The umpire raises his finger but Liam is not happy. Unsure whether he is disappointed with the decision or his shot selection. Anyway, he will have to walk back. Brilliant start to Powerplay 3 for India. Disastrous one for the Aussies.

OUT! Caught! Priyam Garg's decision to give the ball to his strike bowler has done the trick. Tyagi strikes in his comeback over and what a game he is having. He is just in his fourth over and he has his 4th wicket. A wicket which every fast bowler cherishes. It is on the channel of uncertainty around off. It moves away just a bit off the deck. NOT OUT! It looks like Fanning was just looking to stop the ball from hitting his body and the third umpire says that Fanning will continue. Fanning was returning and saw the ball coming towards him and blocked the ball with his hand. But his bat was grounded. OUT! TIMBER! Inswinging yorker and the stumps are shattered! Hearne has been cleaned up and Tyagi is on a hat-trick now. Tyagi steams in, pumped up after taking the wicket of Harvey on the last ball. He bowls a ferocious inswinging yorker. Hearne tries to get his bat down in time and dig it out but the ball has gone past him way before and the bails have been disturbed. Three wickets in the first over for India and they are on a roll. Also, Tyagi on a hat-trick.
Lachlan Hearne is the new man in.

OUT! LBW! Second wicket of the over and the Australian skipper departs. He is dejected and is walking back as slow as a snail. Maybe some complaints with the decision. Tyagi bowls a good length ball around the leg pole line, swinging into the skipper. Harvey looks to defend but misses the ball and is hit on the pads. The Indian players appeal and after some thought the umpire raises his finger. The Aussie skipper cannot believe that decision but he has to walk back. Perhaps, on replays, it seems like a harsh call as it was probably pitching outside the leg pole line. Is this the knockout blow for Australia, that too so early in the game?

OUT! RUN OUT! Absolute catastrophe for Australia but super delight for India. Full ball on middle and off, Fanning pushes this one down the ground. It slowly trudges past the bowler and Fanning spots an opportunity for a single. He sets off but Fraser-McGurk is caught ball-watching. By the time he turns, his partner has reached the non-striker's end. Fraser-McGurk sets off and tries to reach the striker's end but Saxena collects the ball and throws it at the striker's end where Jurel whips the bails off. A knock on the first ball for Australia and Fraser-McGurk returns for a diamond duck.
We are back for the chase. The Indian players are in a huddle and will be looking to get a very good start. The Indian players are now taking their fielding positions with the Australian openers, Sam Fanning and Jake Fraser-McGurk following them out. Kartik Tyagi to start the proceedings with the ball.
234 to win. That in-between score, which is neither too small, nor too commanding. The pitch has a green tinge, so the Indian seamers can exploit that. And then, the Indian spinners would have watched how Murphy bowled on this wicket - especially the ball to get Tilak Varma out - hmmm... they will fancy making it to the last 4. Join us back at 2 pm local (1200 GMT) for the run chase.
JP Duminy is having a chat with Todd Murphy. Murphy says that he is happy with his bowling performance and is happier with the Indian score as well. On the wicket, Todd says that there is a touch of green on the wicket and the seamers exploited that bounce, but he, as a spinner, just looked to bowl consistent lines and lengths. Admits that he tries to learn a lot by the way Nathan Lyon bowls. On going about chasing 234, Murphy says that it is usually difficult to defend scores at the backend of the innings, so if the batsmen can take it deep, get partnerships, he believes that they can chase it down.
Australia - well, they are always known to bowl well, aren't they? They did that here as well. But one thing has been plaguing them throughout this tournament - bowling at the death. 50 came in the last 5 today, 78 in the last 10. The momentum might have just shifted towards India. Willans and Sully were superb in their opening spell, not allowing much to the Indians and that resulted in frustration creeping through - eventually leading to wickets. Todd Murphy, who models his bowling on how Nathan Lyon bowls, was the most effective, taking 2 wickets and going for just 40. Tanveer Sangha though, Australia's sensation before this game, could not do much.
The defending champions had a small issue going into this game, which was the middle order. Given their clinical bowling display so far in the tournament, their middle order did not get much time in the middle. Australia gave them that test. The top order was removed cheaply, with the exception of Yashasvi Jaiswal and India were in trouble at 114/5 in the 31st over. But the lower middle order rallied around, getting meaningful stands, making sure that there was no collapse. Figure this out - 114 came in the first 31 - 119 came in the next 19. Of that, 61 came via the stand of Bishnoi and Ankolekar, that too, in just 59 balls. The latter went on to score an unbeaten 55, taking his side to a very good score.
That is more than a competitive total posted by India. At one stage, even 200 looked to be difficult to get but the Ankolekar-Bishnoi stand has given its side more than enough to bowl at. This is a ground where chasing is favoured but looking at the pitch, it does not look like a belter at all. Which means, bowlers will come into play. And India have plenty of those.

Kelly there runs to his right and dives forward trying to take the catch but he fails to do so. Instead, it looks like he has injured his shoulder. He gets up and throws the ball towards the non-striker's end but in the meantime the batters take two runs. Kelly is in visible pain here.

OUT! RUN OUT! Tyagi sacrifices his wicket for his side! Length ball on middle and leg, Atharva slaps another one down to long on. Kelly there collects and throws the ball towards the non-striker's end. Tyagi knows he has to go for the second even if it was not there because that would mean Ankolekar would be on strike. OUT! RUN OUT! Brilliant fielding from Sam Fanning and the stand that has taken India to a respectable total has now been broken. Good length ball on middle and leg, Bishnoi works it behind square and looks for two. They complete the first and Bishnoi sets off for the second. Fanning at deep backward square leg collects the ball and sends a strong throw towards the keeper's end. Rowe there collects the ball and whips the bails off as Bishnoi puts in the dive. The umpire immediately refers it upstairs. Replays roll in to show that Bishnoi is well short and he has to depart. The 60-run stand has been broken and Australia again stealing the momentum away from India.

NOT OUT! A very full ball outside off, Ankolekar looks to jam it out and does so towards the man at point. The fielder there catches the ball and appeals for a catch. The umpire refers this one upstairs to double-check. Replays roll in to show that the ball hit the bat, then the ground and then into the hands of the fielder.
Is it a bump ball or is it a catch? The Australians feel its a catch. The soft signal is NOT OUT! So the third umpire will need concrete evidence to overturn that.

Drinks Break! Australia are well and truly on top of the game. They have sent half the Indian boys back in the pavilion and are into the untested lower middle order. They have bowled well so far and will look to restrict India under 200. India, on the other hand, need to get close to the 250 mark here. OUT! BOWLED! Massive wicket for Australia as India's young run machine goes back to the pavillion. The glue of the Indian innings so far has to depart. After going for 12 in his first over, Sangha has come back and given his side the biggest wicket of the game. Short on middle and leg, Jasiwal gets on his back foot and looks to go for a big smash on the leg side. He misses as the ball turns in a bit more than he anticipated and the ball hits his thigh and goes right between his legs to disturb the stumps. 11th wicket for Sangha in this tournament and every time Australia needs a wicket, the leg spinner delivers. India into uncharted territory here as their untested middle order will have to deliver on the big stage now.

DRINKS! India on the back foot! Now that is a thing that we have not witnessed in a long time. The openers started strongly for India but the Australian bowlers have kept working hard and have got their rewards. It is time for the Indian middle order to step up now and with Yashasvi Jaiswal still at the crease, India can still make a very good comeback. Dhruv Jurel has walked in now to replace his skipper.

OUT! BOWLED! India under the pump as their skipper is heading back to the pavillion. Right through the gate of bat and pad. Sully comes back and delivers straightaway. Sully steams in and bowls a full ball on off, it nips back in. Garg tries to play a drive but leaves a huge gap between the bat and pad. The gap is so big that a train could go through there. He misreads the swing and the ball goes right between that gap to disturb the stumps. India succumbing under pressure and now the onus will be on the untested middle order to take them out of troubled waters. Australia all over India here.

OUT! Caught! Beautiful line and length from Kelly and it has reaped its reward. Kelly hits the deck hard on the channel. It is in the corridor of uncertainty. To add to the wonders of this delivery Kelly even manages to generate extra bounce making this almost unplayable. Saxena hops and looks to defend but that extra bounce and little away movement sees it kisses the outside edge of Divyaansh's bat and go straight into the gloves of Patrick Rowe. Australian skipper, Mackenzie Harvey says they are bowling first as he thinks there will be something for the bowlers on the pitch and hopes his bowlers can pick early wickets and expose the Indian middle order. Informs there are two changes in his side as Matthew Willians and Corey Kelly come in for Liam Scott and Bradley Simpson. Says he is not concerned about the batting issue as he knows they have depth in the side and expects them to fire soon.
Pitch Report - Dominic Cork and JP Duminy are the pitch analysts for the day. Says the ball will fly as we are well above sea levels so expects batsmen to enjoy it. Hello and welcome to the coverage of the U-19 World Cup quarterfinal between India and Australia. The Boys in Blue have been one of the strongest sides and have showed why they are the favourites to win the tournament heading into this fixture. Australia, on the other hand, managed to get here courtesy of a thrilling win against England. The Aussies will look to upset the tournament favourites in their toughest challenge yet. Can the young Australians stun the Indians or will the defending champions continue their dominance?
